The purpose of rural education fails when!!!!
I visited a
school in the village!!! 2 Teachers for 252 students. These kind of projects only help to show in records of governments
and NGOs that one more school is opened but in real the objective is far far away.
- Nearly 30 kms from Karur
District of Tamil Nadu (India)
there is one village known as Ceteapatti with nearly population of 1750. Occupation is agriculture; their annual income is
around Rs. 3000-5000 per year from the agriculture that comes to US$ 66-111 per year.
- Unemployment level is
too high and is serious crisis.
- Over 60% of land they
have unfertile or dry as shortage of water.
I went to one
school and met lady teacher Ms. Agnus Hilda who explained her school has 252 students and they are 2 teachers to teach. It
is too difficult situation. She also explained the intensity of poverty and unemployment in her area. She also explained the
lack sanitation and drainage, water facility in her village.
My shocking experience
to see a school of 252 students with 2 teachers.
Just imagine what teachers teach and what students learn. This shows Government or NGOs only want to see increased number
of schools in the record books. Purpose of education fails when intension of opening schools is political.
