Average literacy level is about 20% in the village and
more than this percentage is semi literate or learnt only to sign. Agriculture being the main source of income is not enough
for survival. Some of them also have looms to weave they are mainly into the traditional silk sari manufacturing. This village
has about 60 handlooms and 50 families are associated with hand embroidery and beading work. 5-10 hand painters. This traditional
weaving could not attract as source of income for young generation as earning from weaving is not enough to maintain family.
Though these sari being one of the expensive taste for
rich and middle class yet the benefit does not go to the original weavers rather the mediators get the whole lot. Average
earning per family for weaving per day comes to roughly US$ 1.80. This earning is for 6 months a year rest of the year they
are ideal or depend on non skilled jobs that too depends.
Lack of interest of the local representative and Governments
to promote their products have largely resulted to immense unemployment in weaving sectors. Their major weaving is sarees.
Weaving of fabrics should not only mean the Sarees but fabric should be used for other prouducts like home furnishings, gents
and children garments, decoratives and others. Their traditional weaving and demand can be promoted only by
involving the participation of organized sectors or the fashion designiners who can procure and market their products.
Also these weavers need to be trained for weaving as per the International taste. Educational and training instititutions
to be set up so they weave for international market or at least for one billion population of india.
of mediators should be minimized as much as possible so the major share comes to the weaver. More the share more the interest
and more will opt this as employment*******.
